Matt had the opportunity to fire a British L2A3 Sterling submachine gun and Vic captured some great video. The Sterling was adopted by the British military in 1954 and standardised as the L2A3 in 1956. Designed by George Patchett, at the Sterling Armaments Company, development began towards the end of the Second World War.

Jul 01, 2018 · The Sterling Mark 3 became the L2A2 of 1955 and the Sterling Mark 4 became the L2A3 of 1956 - this becoming the final Sterling production form adopted by the British Army. The L34A1 was a specialized suppressed variant with a completely enclosed barrel and muzzle to dampen the exiting bullet noise (identified plainly as an audible "crack").

Watch GB, they pop up now and then. I bought both types last year for my daughter and I. One other option if you are a builder is Apex has sterling kits with US barrels. BTW, if you plan on getting Sterling I'd consider getting some Sterling mags right now. Apex has a BF sale with Sterling mags - 4 for $75 which is about as cheap as they get.
